This is a really cool book about Gecko's with lots of cool and unique pictures and some interesting facts I'd never heard before. Highly recommended.
A fun and interesting book for kids who are interested in Geckos and lizards. Lots of interesting facts we didn't know before. Good photos of different kinds of Geckos.

It's a very simple book. Cute pictures. Informative text. Does exactly what we needed it to. My son loves it. He's six and just started reading. Sometimes he reads it alone, sometimes he wants someone to read it to him.
I sent this as a “just because” gift to my grandchildren, they have tead it several times and love it.

Written in a style suitable for young and not-so-young alike, this is a thoroughly researched account of generally little-known facts of a popular animal. This book should encourage children in their reading and in further discoveries of the animal world. It ends with an encouragement to the reader actively to pursue their interest beyond its pages.
Enjoyed reading about this incredible little animal! If your child is an advanced reader and is excited to learn facts about different animals this is a book for him or her.

As an adult I learned quite a bit about meerkats. It was written in an easy to understand language. The pictures were clear and perfect for the book. Great for kids who like to learn about animals.
My daughter age 10 loved this book. She wanted to learn about axolotl for a school assignment. It was fun to read and kept her engaged. All the pictures were a huge plus in her mind. She has a learning disability any nonfiction book she has to read is painful for her. Not this one! We hope the author writes more.
A lot of information and nice pictures. I learned a lot about geckos!
My kids are currently obsessed with geckos. We are in a tropical country now and have lots of geckos in the house and they have been so curious about these creatures so this book came in useful. My kids are young (3.5 and 1.5) so they can't read all the words but it felt similar to reading our Nat Geo books and there were great pictures to engage them. Loads of facts and we learnt so much. Definitely a thumbs up from us!

While this is a children's book, it's good for anyone at any age to learn more about geckos. The author took a lot of care to write about all different aspects of geckos will illustrations that are helpful and pleasant! You can learn everything from how geckos look, to the details about their skin, eyes, teeth and even about how they are sticky in a unique way. I also liked how the author speaks to having a gecko as a pet. A nice read indeed.

Great informative little book. My 6yo is getting an axolotl for her birthday and this is a great companion piece for a first time owner, or even just for an early reader.
As a keeper of axolotls, I enjoyed reading this. My kids love our little lotls and I can't wait to read this to them. Book has great pictures and information is correct about them.

I had never heard of an axolotl so it was interesting to read about them and see their pictures. A very nice and informative book for children. However, I would suggest not going overboard with the word "cool".
The book is great for kids. My daughter loved it. We were disappointed though when the link listed at the end of the book for a collection of axolotl coloring pictures was inactive. She would love to have access to these for her school project.

My daughter is a very curious 5 year old whose interests range from Greek mythology to the human body. She saw something about Axolotls on Youtube and became immediately curious. This book provides wonderful photos (she already has several favorite pages) and just enough information for young readers (it says for ages 7-11 but a super curious 5 year old is also part of that audience). There isn't much out there on these interesting little critters, so we were happy to find anything, and this is just right! Really glad we found it. It also includes an email address to send for coloring pages which we thought was very special. A great find!

I can't wait to read this amazing book to my great-grandson who is 6 years old. The photos are gorgeous and exciting. For example in photos of the creature's healing ability , I thought he/she was looking right at me. The text is clear and simple without talking down. It's a perfect addition to science literature for children... And adults.

This book is soo good for kids who want to own axolotls, or adults who have axolotls, but don't know how to care for them. Please don't be mad at me for writing so long, I always have so many things on my head.

It's always nice to be able to hand something to my kids that is actually educational! I loved the scope of information included in this little book and it would be the perfect resource for a child needing to write a report. Lot's of great photos and details on everything from habitat to it's endangered species status.
Whoever heard of an axolotl? Certainly not me! My interest in word games caused me to make a note of the name, though, and I downloaded this book as a follow up. I wanted a fast, light read for myself - hence this option, which is absolutely perfect for KS2 readers with an interest in the obscure... And anyone else who wants to know why this is probably the most-studied salamander in the world!
The perfect book for the child who loves frogs, lizards, snakes and such. The Axolotl is really cool looking and is shown in a variety of photos. It really is a wonderful book that tells all about this elusive creature including that it can regenerate body parts.

What a neat little book about a creature that I have never heard of! It is filled with all sorts of facts...about its mythological importance (I found that fascinating!), its environment, its life cycle, its idiosyncracies and the like...just all kinds of interesting information. And the photographs really help to envision this unusual little creature. 🙂 I think it would be a great book for a science teacher's library.

So many things to love about Axolotls and this Book. I loved the book. This is a cool and informative book about the very cool and unusual Mexican Salamander, the Axolotl. I was only vaguely aware of them before. There is so much that is interesting about them and their life cycle and habitat, and this book presents it in an interesting way with plenty of pictures to see what they look like.

What do a Goth and a geek have in common? A puppy named Zoe! Zoe is a yellow and gold Labrador owned by 15 year old Ben. Ben and his family recently moved due to Ben's dad receiving a promotion. Whilst out walking late one night in the rain Ben hears someone crying. This chance meeting results in Jade leaving her phone behind. How will Ben get the phone back to Jade? Zoe needs obedience training. How will that go? Quite amusing at times with Zoe experiencing many firsts in her life, this short story is written quite simply. I am not sure that I agree with the age suitability that Amazon has listed (8-12) as there is a little romance with an obvious attraction and one kiss shared. VERY clean though. Written in British English. As an adult I enjoyed it but would not recommend it for my young daughter. More suited for teenagers. I downloaded this book onto my Kindle I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
What a nice tale with two points of view, as throughout the story you can also see what Zoe is going through as her best friend attempts to win over the girl's heart. Does the boy ever get the girl? You'll have to read the story to learn the answer to that question. 😉
A very engaging and sweet boy meets girl story. A meeting only made possible because of an adorable puppy. The main characters are all realistic and likeable in their own way. I particularly like the author’s twist on internal dialogue. Although presumably written for a young teenage readership, as an adult, I still enjoyed it. If you’re looking for an uplifting simple light read, I highly recommend this book.
This is a charming story of an unusual friendship between an unlikely pair: Ben, a new-in-town geeky kid (but not too geeky) and Jade, a somewhat worldlier Goth girl who is dealing with her own separateness (or loneliness). It’s a chance encounter and Ben’s Labrador puppy that brings them together and they form a tentative relationship (at first) and then a more solid friendship that helps them both understand themselves better. I particularly liked Ben's character and that his and Jade's friendship is truly that. And the dog, Zoe, well I always like dog stories and it’s clear from Zoe’s characteristic exuberance and comical antics that the author must personally know and love a Labrador. Overall, this is an engaging, enjoyable read and one that would be good to read aloud with your child. And it’s short, as some reviewers have noted – possibly in the novella category, or long short story. So maybe that means there's a sequel coming?
Indeed this was a cute heartwarming story for youngsters and dog lovers alike. Short but enjoyable. Look forward to a follow up installment.
Although a short story, this cute little book brings together a Gothic girl and a Geeky guy with an adorable puppy to find each other and rescue all three in a nice and well done tale. No pun intended. This is a great read for the young and the young at heart. I would have liked to hear more... but then maybe there will be...as Zoe and the teens grow up?
What else besides an unruly puppy could bridge the gap between Goth Girl and Geek Guy? Maybe a lost cell phone? And the fact that both are feeling alone and lost in life at the time? This touching story is short enough for an evening read and will leave you waiting for what I hope will be the next installment.

The Little Chick of Sunrise Farm is a great Easter story. Eleven bite sized chapters that tell the tale of the characters and animals, especially the chicks Josh and Jess as well as the wise sheepdog Storm. The artwork/illustration is very nicely done. Tidbits of farm life are intertwined through the story and will make one think that the author has a little bit of farm experience herself. This story is simply written for the younger audiences, but also has depth that will keep older kids engaged as well. (It also has some great wordsmithing so you can grab vocabulary words for those parents who do that with books that help stretch your little ones word knowledge!) The story tells a simple tale of right and wrong, consequences and Grace. It is a sweet Easter tale with a simple but powerful lesson that is explained in a way that will stick in little hearts and minds. This would make a great gift for the upcoming Easter season!

A well written story with a lesson. These two best friend chicks know right from wrong and have been told to do good, but when temptation gets the best of one both end up involved. The story has a great, teachable lesson for kids and also a way to introduce religion if you choose. The nice illustrations add to the story.
My daughter (4 y/o) enjoyed this story (and it held her attention despite being a little longer than the usual bedtime story) and she had a lot of questions, especially towards the end, about what was going on and why.
I loved the story, an original way to make a parallel with the true meaning of Easter. It is beautifully written, flows well. The illustrations are very cute. My only problem is I would have liked to see a few more illustrations considering the age category it is aimed at. It is great to have more illustrations than less when reading it to a younger child, hence my 4* instead of 5*. I truly recommend this reading in introducing a child to the meaning of Easter.
While this is a Christian story and I am not a Christian, and while one of its focuses, besides love, is a miracle, and I do not believe in miracles, I still liked the story, a lot. And I am sure kinds will like it. The story is filled with very sympathetic characters: Lucy the daughter of a farmer who loves the animals on the farm and treats them nicely, the wise dog Storm who teaches the animals many things including that they need to act properly, two chicks who love each other and are always together, and other animals. The story is about a theft and the consequences, the hurt that it caused the owner of the item stolen, and what happened to the thief. Kids will realize and understand all of this and learn not to steal even when someone has something they really like and really want to have.
This children's story tells of a friend who takes the place of another in death to protect the friend out of love. While the story doesn't go into detail to make the correlation between it and the Crucifixion of Christ, it could be a good springboard from which parents could convey the reasons behind Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection.
Jess and Josh are so sweet. I honestly enjoyed the book. The lessons and consequences are easy to digest. But most importantly the book opens the way to discuss other lessons with kids without condemning or overwhelming them. Thumbs up!!!
